Algebra at the beach

We had fun collecting stuff and then making different patterns. We created some very interesting patterns. Most were patterns like shell, stick, stone, stone, shell, stick...

Some were drawn too. Some were size related.

Alvin's Road"chip" to Waihi Beach School

Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks came to visit Room 9.  We won a competition through More FM to have Alvin come to our classroom. We were very excited to hear he had fun surfing and staying at the Top Ten the same night as the year 4's had camp there.

Here are some of the stories we wrote.

ALVIN! by Mitchell
Today Alvin came to our class. He had massive eyes. His pupils are brown. Alvin arrived at 9;15AM. Don't tell anyone but he only came to our class; Room Nine. He gave everyone a sticker. It said Alvin and the Chipmunks the road chip, in cinemas December 26th. #ifoundavlvin. It had a picture of Alvin, Simon and Theodore on it too. He was wearing his sweatshirt that had an A on it. Alvin had a humongous tail. The person that was with him said that the movie is airing on boxing day. I got two photos and I was hugging him in both. All of the girls, Simon and Theodore weren't there too.

Alvin is a big guy. I thought he could touch the roof but he didn't touch the roof. I was very nervous because it was my turn to take a picture with Alvin. I think he has more "A t-shirts" than one. I was waiting, and waiting for Alvin. I was so happy that we won the competition. I've seen a movie that had Alvin in it.

Today Alvin came to school. He just could fit in the doorway! We got to have a sticker. Then we got to give him a high five or a hug. I gave him a high five. Then we got to have a photo with Alvin. I got to have three photos with Alvin. Alvin couldn't talk so he had to whisper to his friend.

I got really excited because I saw Alvin outside of the class. He is a chipmunk. Alvin's eyes looked really fake and very big. He was very BIG! The fluff on the top of his head was almost on the green ceiling. The boy beside him had some stickers that he gave to each person in the classroom. After you got a sticker you would get to give him a hug or a high five, then we asked him some questions. We had a whole class photo then we got our own photo with Alvin. Then he left.

Junior Zoo Trip

The Zoo trip was amazing.

We saw lots of our favourite animals.
